Mardaani 2 Movie Review: Rani Mukerji gets the perfect nemesis in Vishal Jethwa,

Image
Movie Name: Mardaani 2 Cast: Rani Mukerji Director: Gopi Puthran Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 2 could not have come at a better time. But then, a good time for a revenge drama where the cops are chasing a serial rapist and a murderer is a bad time for the rest of the country. Gopi Puthran weaves a gripping tale and he doesn't loosen the grip through the whole of the 1-hour-45-minute run time of the film. And that right there is Mardaani 2's biggest win. The tight screenplay leaves room for our Hindi film heroine's stray hair because she is not just a pretty Bollywood face, but has no space for one stray scene, emotion, line or expression. As Gopi Puthran moves from the writer's position in Mardaani (2014) to the director's chair in Mardaani 2, Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani) and the story move from Mumbai to Kota, Rajasthan. Kota here plays a significant role, but contrary to the protests that mushroomed claiming the film is trying to malig...

Do dost ek pyaale mein chai piyenge, isse pyaar badhta hai!" This dialogue from Rajkumar Santoshi's 1994 film Andaz Apna Apna made many of us believe in the concept of friendship. So much so, that it actually became one of the ways to prove how much our friends mean to us. Right? But, surprisingly Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, the actors who played Amar and Prem in the cult classic, that it is now, were not on talking terms on the sets. It may be hard to believe for all the fans, considering their amazing camaraderie on the big screens, but it is indeed true. Raveena Tandon, also part of the cult comedy, spilt the beans on how it was like to be on the set of Andaz Apna Apna. In an interview to Hindustan Times, Raveena, who essayed the role of Karisma, impersonating Raveena Bajaj, in Santoshi's directorial venture, revealed that the atmosphere on sets was quite tense. Despite that, she had fun shooting with all the actors. Turns out, Aamir and Salman were not on ...

I’m fascinated with slightly tragic characters: Janhvi Kapoor,

Image
Actor Janhvi Kapoor instantly agreed to feature in Zoya Akhtar’s short in the horror anthology Ghost Stories for two reasons: to understand how the filmmaker creates her characters and because she finds herself drawn to “slightly tragic characters”. Zoya’s short features the Dhadak star as a home nurse tasked with taking care of an elderly woman, played by veteran actor Surekha Sikri. Janhvi says the project gave her the opportunity to understand the world Zoya creates, which is quite unlike others. “The way Zoya sees her characters and writes them, they are grounded in reality. They are detailed and never one dimensional, she layers them in a way I don’t think many filmmakers have cracked. “I wanted to be a part of this world and get to know how these characters are made. It was just curiosity,” Janhvi told PTI in an interview. The actor says the story and the character resonated with her on a very “weird level”. “I think I am fascinated with slightly tragic cha...
